Westmount Vice-Principal Announcement

Foothills School Division is pleased to announce the administrative appointment of Sherry Opas as Vice-Principal of Westmount School, effective August 29, 2018.

Mrs. Opas joined Foothills School Division as a Behaviour Learning Facilitator in August 2014 and in that role has been a member of Foothills Adminstrator Association and Learning Services team throughout that time. This system level perspective will serve her well as she joins the 2018/2019 administrative team, Mr. Jordan Rhodes (Principal) and Ms. Stacey Swanson (Vice-Principal), at Westmount School. Prior to joining Foothills Sherry held Instructional Leadership roles for 8 years in the capacity of  Student Services Coordinator/Behavior Consultant with Christ The Redeemer School Division.

Mrs. Opas holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and in 2015, she received her Master of Education (School Administration) from Gonzaga University. As a career long-learner Sherry will bring a track record of success in cultivating school-based collaborative teams to design learning, support school-wide interventions, and ensure all students can achieve in a welcoming, safe, respectful and caring learning environment.

Sherry is excited about joining Mr. Rhodes and Ms. Swanson and the entire Westmount staff as they continue to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful learning opportunities for students in their school community.

Please join us in congratulating Sherry Opas on her successful appointment to this leadership position. We are confident that all stakeholders at Westmount School will benefit from her deep educational knowledge and experience, support focused leadership, and unyielding belief that all kids can learn at high levels.
